From one south to the next: South Tyrolean-born Johann Innerhofer's passion for wine and his adventurous entrepreneurial spirit drove him, his wife Laura Mauri and their two children to South Africa. The desire to own his own wine estate with a sea view led to the purchase of Capelands Estates in 2004, an idyllic wine estate in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine-growing region, 50 kilometres east of Cape Town. As a self-declared boutique winery, Capelands focusses on quality rather than quantity: only around 12,000 bottles of red wine and 10,000 bottles of white wine are bottled each year.
